I’ve had a pretty busy couple of days– in fact, I’d say it’s been downright manic. Since arriving into Canada on Wednesday, it’s been one endless stream of DIY, vendor meetings, family parties and general wedding-related happenings. All done on a jet-lag schedule of four hours of sleep a night, of course. Here’s a little look at what I’ve been up to lately…
1,2 A few scenes of my parents’ house in Ottawa. I love going home in the summer- the weather is beautiful and the neighbourhood so peaceful after the hustle and bustle of London.
3,4 My aunt hosted a lunch at her Gatineau cottage on Friday afternoon. The home itself is beautiful (I’ll be sharing photos next month) and I always love a trip into Quebec cottage country.
5 Just a shot of my sister’s bachelorette/shower on Thursday evening, which was hosted by a friend of hers. The gang was a mix of family and my sister’s old childhood and high school friends- girls I’ve known for most of my life. Super fun.
6 Getting my bridesmaid outfit ready. The clutch is a loaner from a friend in NYC, who is a handbag designer. Designer samples so hot they haven’t even hit the shops yet? I’m a pretty lucky girl, I know.
7 The Big Day. Dress on, makeup done and professional photos taken, my big sis waits patiently for our ride to the church.
8 And what a ride it was! My Mum arranged to have a neighbour drive us in his vintage car. He told us that it’s something he really enjoys and my sister was the fourth or fifth bride he’s driven to her wedding! He even had a chauffeur hat– it was pretty much the coolest thing ever.
9,10 I didn’t take a lot of photos at the event itself (I left that to the incredibly talented Anne-Marie Bouchard, my sister’s photographer) but here’s a sneak peek at the tent, set out for dinner, and of the result- one very happy couple. You better believe that this space is going to be crawling with wedding imagery once we get the professional photos back.
I’ll be taking a blog holiday for the rest of this week; meeting various friends for various meals, enjoying some cottage relaxation with my hometown girls, and spending some quality (read: non wedding-related) time with my family. On Thursday I’m off to New York City to spend three days in controlled hedonism, which I couldn’t be more excited about. I’ll be back next Monday with another ‘Grams of my Life, and regular posting will resume in September.
Until then, have a great final week of August, and let me know what you’ve been up to lately!
