Hello, and Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was great, and I’m thrilled that it’s now September, my favourite month of the year. Before I dive into the new season, here’s what I got up to during the dying days of August.
Last weekend was the August Bank Holiday, and it started, in typical British fashion, with rain. Lots of rain. This photo was taken in the (otherwise lovely) city of Canterbury, where I went with my friend and her sister-in-law for a girls’ day of shopping and tea (ie, running from shop to tearoom and back again to avoid a soaking).
The weekend soon picked up, however, with a Sunday morning hack. I was quite a horse-mad kid, but hadn’t been riding in almost 15 years when I snapped this. I had a great time, but my leg muscles paid for it later on.
My friend’s parents live near Dover in Kent, and I got quite the tour of the area during the three days I was there with them. This was taken on the beach in Kingsdown, where we had a delicious pub dinner at the Zetland Arms.
In stark contrast to the start of the weekend, Monday dawned sunny and warm. We went to Whitstable and had fish and chips on the beach, followed by the requisite ice cream.
In preparation for Friday night’s Dirty Dancing party, here I am all dolled up and ready to party like it’s 1963.
The event itself was incredible, possibly the most fun thing I’ve done in London in years. Picture a 2000-strong picnic on a beautiful summer’s evening, complete with hula-hooping, beach balls a-plenty, fantastic food and drink, live music, and lots of dancing. Oh, and watching one of the 1980′s best films on a huge outdoor screen didn’t hurt.
Just a new Autumn accessory I picked up this weekend in – where else - Whistles. I love it so much I’m wearing it as I type this, in my pyjamas.
Saturday night’s dinner with my flatmate: a new pizzeria has just opened up around the corner from us, and we felt compelled to test it out. The verdict? Dangerously delicious.
So that’s what I’ve been up to– what about you? x
