By the time this post goes live I’ll be sitting on the Eurostar, nursing a takeaway cappuccino and perhaps a Pret croissant (they’re the best, after all), while hurtling towards Paris at 300 kph. I can’t wait.
My good friend Rhe arrived in London yesterday, and let me tell you, I was so excited to see her. We’ve had this trip – a long weekend in Paris, followed by some quality hang time in London – planned for months, and it’s what’s been keeping me going through the cold, dark winter we’ve been having.
My love for the French capital is well documented around here, so it stands to reason that while I’m not in Paris, I like to read about it. So while I’m skipping through Père Lachaise and downing red wine at Verjus, here are a few of my favourite Paris-themed blogs to entertain and inspire you this weekend:
HiP Paris Blog
This is the blog of the website Haven In Paris, a holiday rental company with properties in Paris, London and Tuscany. I’ve never stayed in one of their beautifully-appointed, glamorous spaces, but I’ve read the blog for a couple of years now. With a whole host of Paris-based and/or Paris-loving contributors, it’s a great place to find restaurant reviews, personal essays, humorous pieces and general city news.
Paris By Mouth
For the serious foodies out there, Paris By Mouth is where you want to go when meal planning in City of Lights. This restaurant review site isn’t just a hobby blog; with contributors like Dorie Greenspan and Clothilde Desoulier, you know they know their stuff. The Five Great series is a useful little problem-solver, for those times when you need to find dining options that cater to vegetarians or are open on a Sunday.
Paris in Four Months
Now this one you must read. Carine is a Swedish transplant to Paris, and seeing the city through her eyes is a daily treat. Originally titled because she’d moved to Paris for four months to study French, the author is now back for good and capturing everything – street scenes, food, fashion week and daily life – through her gorgeous photography.
Though not technically a Paris blog, food writer David Lebovitz is one of my favourite experts on the city. He’s lived, cooked and eaten in Paris for nearly a decade, and through his humorous, clever writing I love experiencing the tastes of the city . His memoir, The Sweet Life in Paris, is also fantastic, and I have his Paris Pastry App on my iPhone.
So, those are my favourite Paris blogs. Do you have any others to share?
