If you’re a fan of mid-century style (aren’t we all?), there’s a house tour over on Apartment Therapy that needs your attention now.
As a contributer over at AT I like to keep track of what my colleagues are posting, and Ashley Poskin‘s latest tour, Jessica & Jonathan’s “Like-Eich” Ranch, has blown me away. Mid-century style has been so popular for so long that house tours like this are sometimes in danger of being ridiculed as cliché; but when they’re done this well, no one is disappointed.
Personally, I have a healthy love of mid-century design, and I think Jessica and Jonathan’s Denver house is fantastic. I’m particularly digging the continuous surface that wraps around the open-plan home, forming the kitchen countertops and the bookshelf top (I used a similar design trick when I re-designed my friends’ mid-century home in Canada).
I also love the light fixtures over the kitchen island (how authentic are they?!) and the palette: white, black and grey, with lots of natural wood and pops of warm reds. The space seems neither too feminine or overly masculine, which I always appreciate in a shared home.

My own grandmother has some killer mid-century style, and her condo is full of immaculate teak furniture, cool textiles and candy-coloured modernist kitchenware. I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on the occasional cast-off, but I can only dream of an actual home in this style. Luckily there are tours like this to fuel my daydreams; head over to Apartment Therapy to see all the photos.
