Yup, it’s true. Today is the very last day of my twenties; when I wake up tomorrow I’ll be 30 years old young, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
That probably has something to do with the way I’ll be celebrating. In a few short hours, two of my favourite people in the world (my best friend and her boyfriend) will arrive at my door for five days of breakneck fun. I count myself pretty lucky that I was able to convince my pals to make the flight from New York City to London to celebrate this milestone with me, and I’m hoping they have a fab time while they’re over here.
While I can’t control the weather (just stay dry for me, ok London?), I’ve worked out a loose itinerary for us that, fingers crossed, hits the balance between fresh air and culture, major sights and hidden gems, and (crucially) food and drink. As well as showing my friends London, I’m also looking forward to introducing them to my favourite Londoners: on Friday evening I’ll be celebrating my birthday with a bunch of friends at a local pub, which I’m really looking forward to.
If I sound remarkably calm about entering a new decade, it’s because I am. My twenties were fun while they lasted, but to be honest I’ve been over them for a while now. To me, 30 feels more like an achievement than a sentence, and I’ve got some pretty big plans for this decade. Besides, if it’s true that you’re only as old as you feel, then I’m still 14 anyway.
I’ll be away from the blog for the rest of the week, turning my energy instead toward playing tour guide and consuming my body weight in baked goods. I’ll be back on Monday, but if you miss me in the meantime, hop over to my Instagram to see what I’m up to.
Later, lovelies! x
