My number one hobby in January is dreaming about the places I’ll go during the year ahead.
This year, it feels more elemental than ever. With the winter rains pounding down on London town and the polar vortex wreaking havoc on North America, my mind and body are longing for warm sunshine, azure skies, and the sound of waves lapping a distant shore. I’ve already booked a short weekend away in sunny Spain, but have my eyes on a slightly bigger prize.
I’ve been fascinated by Greece since I was a little girl, and went through a phase of reading all the myths I could get my hands on. This year, my favourite travel buddy (and fellow Greece-enthusiast from afar) and I have decided that enough is enough. We’re packing our bags and going on the trip we’ve been talking about taking together for the last three years.
No itineraries have been ironed out yet, but we’re hoping to spend a few days in Athens, a few on the famous Santorini, and take in some other islands, as well. Problem is, there are so many to choose from that I just don’t know where to start.
So, my question is: Have you been to Greece? Where would you suggest I go?
