Posting has been pretty light this week, not least because I’m currently spending most evenings hibernating under my covers, so cold and grey is London these days. An escape is definitely necessary, and while I know I’ll have fun on my upcoming girls’ weekend in Berlin, I’d really like to be heading someplace a little more exotic.
My mother is currently planning a trip to Marrakech, and I’d say that fits the bill right about now. I’ve never been, but I always associate the city with Yves Saint Laurent, Talitha Getty and other chic Euros who made it their home in the 60′s. Yves and his partner, Pierre Bergé, actually owned three homes in Morocco: Dar es Saada, their first home in Marrakech, Villa Oasis, the home attached to the famous Jardin Majorelle which the couple restored and gave to the city, and Villa Mabrouka, which is in the north of the country outside Tangier, overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar.
As far as I know, Jardin Majorelle is the only YSL “site” in Morocco open to the public, and I’ll defintely be encouraging Mum to go check it out. In the meantime, enjoy these beautiful photos, and Happy Friday! x
