Happy Friday, everyone! I’m in an especially great mood this morning, because – I’ve got some big news – today is my very last day at my current job.
Gah! It’s so exciting, I can hardly believe I’ve even typed that.
Don’t get me wrong– I like my job a lot, and realise that I’m quite lucky to be able to say that. In the three years I’ve worked for my current company, I’ve learned loads and had a lot of fun. I’ve worked on projects all over the world, made great connections, and expanded my skills in areas I never could have dreamed of when I first started here. It’s definitely a bittersweet day, in some respects.
But now it’s time for me to open a new door; to take those experiences and put them into something new. I’ve been hired by a London architecture firm who wants to start offering interior design services to their clients, and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this new challenge. I’ll be working on a mix of residential and commercial projects, and after three years of only focusing on residential work, the variety sounds particularly exciting.
The good news doesn’t end there: I’m also taking a wee holiday next week, to clear my head before I start my new role. Tomorrow afternoon I’m flying home to Canada (yes, into the very heart of the polar vortex… some might say I’m crazy) to hang out at home, see my childhood friends, go shopping with my mum, get chauffeured around by my dad, and generally be coddled for a few days. I can’t wait.
I’m taking next week off of blogging to enjoy it all, but should be back on the 17th, which is also when I’m starting my new job. If posting is a little light for awhile after that, you’ll know why.
Wish me luck!
